A Space for Faith: The Colonial Meetinghouses of New England

• Meetinghouse Exhibition Travels to Murfreesboro, Tennessee:

  The Baldwin Photographic Gallery at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is currently hosting my solo traveling exhibition of meetinghouse photographs through December 8, 2011.

  I will be in Murfreesboro on Monday, November 7, and will give a presentation about my work, including the historical significance of New England's meetinghouses, at 7:30 PM in the State Farm Room, Business and Aerospace Building. A reception and book signing will follow in the gallery. Copies of my book may also be purchased Here.
  
  Hours: Baldwin Photographic Gallery, McWherter Learning Resources Center, Mon - Fri 8:00 - 4:30, Sat 12:00 - 4:00, closed Sundays and on MTSU holidays.

  The Baldwin Photographic Gallery at Middle Tennessee State University has gained a reputation for showing the work of many nationally-known photographers, including Michael A. Smith, Paula Chamlee, Sally Mann, Henry Horenstein, and Keith Carter.

• Recap of My Recent Exhibition in Turners Falls, Massachusetts:

  
  

  My solo show this past summer at The Gallery at Hallmark in Turners Falls, Massachusetts, was beautifully installed and very well received. A brief (2-minute) slideshow of the exhibit may be viewed by clicking Here. The gallery is part of the Hallmark Institute of Photography, and I was invited back in October to deliver an all-afternoon lecture to the students about my photographic and artistic journey.

• Yet Another Award for the Book:

  

  In addition to the New England Book Festival Award for best photography/art book of 2010, and the Independent Publisher's 2011 Gold Medal for best northeast regional non-fiction book, which were announced earlier this year, my book A Space for Faith has received:
  
  

  • The American Association for State and Local History (AASLH) 2011 Leadership in History Award of Merit, which was presented at their annual meeting in Richmond, Virginia, in September.

• Continuing Media Praise:

  • New Hampshire Chronicle on WMUR TV re-broadcast the segment they did last year about me and my meetinghouse photography. If you missed it, it may be viewed by clicking Here.
  
  
  • A nice selection of my never-before-published color meetinghouse photographs was featured an article entitled We Gather Together in the October 2011 issue of Early American Life. The photos and article may be downloaded Here (5.2Mb PDF file).
