Book Now in Production:

My book of meetinghouse photographs is now officially titled:
A Space for Faith: The Colonial Meetinghouses of New England.
During the past 6 months I have scanned and prepared the images for publication,
and the text has been edited both by a professional writer and a copyeditor.
The publication date will be announced in mid-October,
coincident with my photo essay in the November/December edition of Yankee Magazine (see below).

In addition to my Introduction and 77 duotone reproductions of my photographs,
the book will contain:

- Foreword by Brent Glass, Director of the National Museum of American History at the Smithsonian,
- Essay by Peter Benes Founder and Director of the Dublin Seminar for New England Folklife, and
- Commentary by William Earle Williams, curator of photography and chair of the fine arts department at Haverford College.

Photo Essay in Yankee Magazine, November/December, 2009:

A selection of my large-format black & white photographs from the
Colonial Meetinghouses project will be featured in the November/December 2009 edition of
Yankee Magazine,
together with an article by Assistant Editor
Justin Shatwell.
The article not only tells the story of New England's colonial meetinghouses, but
also describes me and my photography. I will send a brief announcement to my e-mail list
when the issue is available.
Coincident with the publication of the Yankee article, I will be announcing an availability date
for my book, and a new web site that will provide ordering information for the book and a "look inside" feature.

WGBH Television Production: God in America:

My
Colonial Meetinghouses website
has attracted some interesting traffic over the past few months.
One of the more interesting interactions has been with a producer from
WGBH Television,
where they are filming a 6-part series: God in America,
to air on Public Television next year.
They were looking for colonial meetinghouses at which to film several scenes,
and after much deliberation and delays due to the lousy weather here in New England this past June,
they wound up filming at the
Ware Center Meeting House,
pictured here, and at the
Rocky Hill Meeting House.
Watch for this series on your Public Television station next fall.

DAR Presentation on November 2, 2009, in Exeter, New Hampshire:

Another interesting opportunity that came my way via the Meetinghouses web site is an invitation
to speak at a meeting of the
Exeter chapter
of the
Daughters of the American Revolution.
The meeting will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 2nd, 2009, at The Ridge at
RiverWoods in Exeter, New Hampshire.
The presentation is free and open to the public - both men and women!
I will give a narrated slideshow of my 5-year project to track down and photograph the remaining "untouched"
colonial meetinghouses in the 6 New England states,
and I will be happy to sign copies of my Yankee Magazine article, which should be available by then.

I am pleased to report that, for the third year in a row, I have received an Artist Entrepreneurial Grant from the
New Hampshire State Council on the Arts.
This program funds individual artists to promote themselves and their art as a business.
My award is to support the design and production of promotional material
to attract and secure venues for the colonial meetinghouses
Traveling Exhibition.
